It would seem that, yet a-bleedin'-gain, I have some sort of cold/ear/sinus thingy. I've been getting pains in my left ear/side of head since last week, and I'm fairly sure it's sinus-related because doing a shoulder stand yesterday evening made it suddenly worse for about half an hour afterwards. I'm considering going to the doctor or acupuncturist, but gah, expense, hassle (also possibility of Vile Antibiotics from the doctor - he knows how I feel about Vile Antibiotics and their attendant digestive horror, so doesn't give them to me unless I really need them, but then again, I might need them). However, if I don't go, I may continue to have an earache, and thence may progress to the state I was in with my sinuses a couple of years ago, aka Entire Head Gone Septic. Urgh again. Interestingly, the woman who cleans the office was pointing out that my desk gets a particularly extravagant amount of dust/airborne crap on it, and she said it was probably coming out of the air conditioning vent directly over my head. I wonder would moving desks help prevent my sinuses going bananas every couple of months?

In other news, I finished a rather natty green/teal scarf in various shades and textures last night, which I like a lot, though currently think it's a bit short - I normally like a scarf that I can wrap a couple of times round my neck, and this one isn't quite long enough. That said, every other time I've nearly finished a scarf and then decided to add another bit of length to it, it has started out a perfect length and then become quite hilariously long after a few weeks of wearing, so I'm hoping this one will stretch a bit and end up Just Right. Also I am never making a scarf with so many stripes in it again, the weaving in of all the ends nearly did my head in. Next up: a bag for my choir music with the remaining wool. With a cable on it. Oh yes.

Bag for choir music! With a pocket for pencils and a pocket for a water bottle! You are GENIUS!

please let your head not go septic.

Yay, I'm glad a fellow choir person thinks it's a good idea. I'd thought of the pencil pocket but not the water bottle one, I must update my plan somewhat - thanks!

And also thankyou for the kind non-septic wishes. I never wish to repeat the experience of going to the chemists with my prescription and having the person behind the counter look with horror at me and say "Oh my goodness, what's wrong with you?".

Er, due to the prescription of scary medicine, that is, not because I was suppurating from every orifice of my head. It only felt like that....

Ah. I was wondering about the B-movie effects you must have been producing, I have to say...

Felted mohair choir bag! The very thing to do with the excess of wool I seem to have accumulated.

My housemate has had a sinus thing for two weeks now, and he's never had a sinus thing before. Must be part of this nasty thing that's going around.

Germiness does seem to abound right now, alright.

I am currently trying to decide between a)finishing my day in work and seeing if I feel better after an Evening Of Rest (and if not, go to the doctor tomorrow), b)going home ASAP and having an Entire Day Of Rest (ditto on the doctor front), or c)just going to the doctor today and having done with it.

Always gets some rest first, especially if it means getting some time off work. You can always decide tomorrow to go to the doctors'. So, B.

MOVE DESKS! Even if there is just an outside chance of it helping it is worth it as this point. Besides, even if the airborne crap is not the cause of the sinus thing it won't be helping. Best wishes for non septic headness!

Awestruck on the ambitious knitting!

You might be less awestruck if you saw it. :)

I think I will ask if I can move desks, I hope it won't sound too bizarre to the powers that be...

(oh, and off-topically, I have just seen lovely pictures of you and your family frolicking in the snow in Finland)

Yay! for the snowy high jinks! Have you any pictures of yourself frolicking in Morrocco or even Brian up a mountain?

Boo to being ill again, I'm sorry. But yes, definitely try moving desks. You've got a pretty good reason!

That's pretty much what I was going to say. I don't think it's an odd reason, and I also know that the more you get exposed to things like excessive dust, the greater the likelihood they will eventually cause a sensitivity.

Did that make sense? I'm still on my first cup of coffee. Um. Example: I didn't get allergies to any vegetation or local things growing up because we moved every few years. It took ten years of living in the same place to develop allergies to the airborn moulds here, and now I have sinus headaches all winter.

So even if that's not what's causing the problem, you should move before it does. And I think it very well could be the cause.

Ta for the wise words. I'm going to ask my boss today if he's free, though annoyingly I'm not sure if there are any spare desks I could move to.

Also feeling much better, hoorah.
