To my great shame, this is yet another hungover post, for in my state of post-gig adrenaline-fuelled "why, I seem to be drink-proof"-ness, I managed to consume two glasses of Student Reception Winetm and several pints of beer. This concoction did not make for a happy Lisa on awakening this morning. Urgh.

Drunkening aside, it was a great evening. We did a sort of gig of two halves - one set of old material (which I managed not to forget, yay me) and one set of newies, both featuring some tunes with extra brass courtesy of the nice folks who played for us in the Spiegeltent and Jurgen's mad arranging skillz. The new stuff set was a bit nerve-racking, not least because the onstage sound was a little odd, and John had managed to drum through his bass drum at the end of the first set (a hasty impromptu replacement was arranged during the interval), and Simon's Crap Banjo Of Doom was being particularly craptastic - but we got through it! And people seemed to like the new things! Hoorah!

There then ensued the aforementioned drunkening with various folks, including the lovely [livejournal.com profile] amphoteric and the equally lovely [livejournal.com profile] distortionghost, who I finally got to meet (and traumatize by bringing her for pints to the site of her teenage drinking misadventures). [livejournal.com profile] distortionghost also took some excellent photos of the gig, which reveal that the lighting made us all look like we were in a German expressionist film, or a Robert Wilson play, or something. Paul, in particular, seems to be LOOMING. Great stuff.

I love the word "drunkening." May I borrow it over the weekend?

Most certainly!

I think I got it from The Simpsons.

Sorry I didn't go - I was at home writing my Zach Braff interview and playing e-scrabble with [livejournal.com profile] blue_monday (speaking of which, care for a game - if you DARE?). Actually, I thought the gig was in the Printing House but that looks more like Player's - where was it?

Also, did you go to the Laurie Anderson talk yesterday? Patrick is hoping to interview her for his magical musical thesis....

I fear the e-scrabble. Not least because it would probably mean me never doing any work ever again (not that I'm doing much now, mind).

The gig was in the theatre, yes. Great space to play in, even though, as I said, the onstage sound was a bit peculiar. Apparently it sounded v. good in the auditorium, which is probably more important. And, as you can see, there was lots of scope for MAD LIGHTING.

And no, I didn't go to the Laurie Anderson talk, what with the work and the gig preparations - I would have loved to have gone. I might go up to the exhibition in IMMA at the weekend if you fancy joining me for an excursion?

And bah, even if I didn't fear the e-scrabble and its timesucking potential, I wouldn't be able to play, because it seems to be blocked by our evil work web blocker outer. Stupid WebSense.
