I had a dream last night that I was visiting some sort of art exhibit that consisted of hundreds and hundreds of wooden lockers. When you arrived at the exhibit, you were given a key for one of the lockers, which in turn contained another key, and you could go on opening lockers and finding things in them and opening tiny secret compartments in them until you eventually ran out of keys. It was so engrossing that I actually found myself trying to get back into the dream when I started to wake up.

Anyway, I'm sure this either means a) something TERRIBLY IMPORTANT about the state of my head, or b) that I shouldn't have had that last beer last night. We decided to celebrate the eve of All Hallows/hide from the constant explosions by going to the Warlords of Pez album launch in Whelans, which was pretty good fun, though I learned that the one thing worse than being stuck in a very big sweaty crowd is being stuck in a very big sweaty crowd where lots of people have wigs/wings/sabres/tridents/other sticky-out fancy-dress appurtenances, and are also prone to pushing aimlessly through said crowd all the way through the acts. STAY IN ONE PLACE AND WATCH THE BAND, YOU BEWIGGED FOOLS.

And guh, my sinuses are still not quite right and I want to go straight home after work and sit on the couch but noooo, I have to cycle out to poxy UCD for an orchestral rehearsal. Concert is on Friday, btw, yet more Mahler (the third symphony), it's very nice, NCH, do come.

Mmm, I'm in the mood for a concert (god knows I get concessions everywhere, I might as well use my studenthood) but I'm afraid I can't be doing with Mahler at all. Have you any other concerts coming up?

Mozart's arrangement of Handel's Messiah, some time in December. It is DOING MY HEAD IN because I know the original so well and now I'm trying to learn it in German with occasional extra notes stuck in to fit the extra syllables.

Also the scores are huge and cumbersome.[/sulky]

My sympathies! I'm sorry to say I've played the fiddle part for Wolfy's Handel Messiah at some Christmas 'do. It was dreadfully difficult, I'll never forget it.

That is a brilliant idea for an exhibition! Someone should do it.

My subconscious mind thanks you! I'd do it myself if I had access to loads of wooden lockers.

At the University Library here, there used to be a 'paper chase' - a series of clues tucked into obscure books and periodicals all round the library; solving one clue led you on to the next clue, and so on.... I used to love it, though it did serious damage to my research!

I hope the rehearsal is ok - how's it going so far? I hope you can get home not too late, and take yourself and your sinuses to bed.

Sounds like a great exhibition! Be a bastard to reset it for every new person in the door though. There has to be a way around that though. mmmm ... thinks ....
