So says the BBC.

I am now bracing myself for all the obituaries describing him as "larger than life".

Hrmmm, can't imagine mine will be (he wasn't).

The title of the article leaves something to be desired - Ex-Irish taoiseach. "Irish ex-taoiseach", surely?

I'll see your "larger than life" and raise you an "end of an era".

Perhaps they will refer to his "colourful" approach to business?

And his "flamboyant" lifestyle, not to mention his "deeply irritating" personal life.

And then there will be a lot - A LOT - about how Bertie does or does not resemble his mentor.

Maybe some of the current crop of FFers will volunteer to be buried with him?

Ohhhhhhh. *shudders in delight*

I can't decide which would be better, a vast pit burial with them all feasting their dead master and gaily eating poisoned food, or maybe a Viking ship burial, with them sent off to Valhalla in a roar of flames.

His mistress: he 'shaped her'.

My mind: boggles.

I was actually wondering whose Taoiseach they thought we'd confuse him with.

Oh, and take note: on the news splash page, he's the 'Ex-Irish premier'. Because obviously no one in Britain knows, is expected to know, or ought to be educated about what a Taoiseach is.

The Icelandic one, of course!

Well, now he's dead, he is ex-Irish, I suppose.

(I'll get me coat!)

My mother's now ranting about the scepticism about his daughter buying land beside her parents so she could "look after him". "See? It's easy to point fingers, but the man was ill all along!" Of course, moving home to look after elderly parents is the proper Irish daughter's duty.

I hope my mother has her own private island stashed away somewhere.
