the girl with the pearl eyeballs
Mar. 14th, 2005 01:51 pmI went for an eye test at lunchtime, as I hadn't had one for ages and I'd noticed that my eyes were getting tired very easily at work. Lo and behold, I discovered that one of my eyes has got less blind since my last eye test, while the other one is slightly worse. Bang goes my dream of having perfect vision for five minutes at the age of 50. But new lenses tomorrow, hoorah.
It was actually quite a good fun eye test, as I had an extremely enthusiastic opthalmologist who was very eager to explain everything he was doing, and hymned the praises of my eye health (I have lovely symmetric eye pressure, apparently) in an endearingly nerdy fashion. He also pointed out (again, in a rather "hey, COOL" fashion) that I have a slight congenital optic nerve condition (drusen) that looks like I have a little pearl-like thing on the back of each eyeball - I always did like to accessorize. They're not affecting my vision at all and he said they're harmless. If he's there when I go to get my specs upgraded tomorrow he's going to take photos of them for me.
